A one day conference exploring the role of drawing in art, education, culture and the everyday

Friday 5 April 2019 @The Biscuit Room, The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle

The 2019 DRAWING symposium promises to be an inspirational and thought provoking event with an extraordinary line up of practitioners, thinkers and visual art sector leaders from across the UK and beyond.

Created for artists, educators, arts professionals and academics, the symposium offers an amazing opportunity to discuss and explore the importance and role of drawing in art, culture and the everyday. The day offers a rich opportunity to connect with others, to learn and to and to debate and influence the current debate around drawing as well as finding out more about how you can become involved with the DRAWING programme.

Our keynote speaker is renowned artist Tania Kovats, whose work focuses on drawing and has exhibited in the UK and internationally. Also speaking at the symposium are Chloe Briggs (Paris College of Art), Kelly Chorpening (Camberwell College of Art), Anita Taylor (TBW Drawing Prize), Kate Mason (Director of The Big Draw), Laura Sillars (MIMA Director) and artists Mohammad Barrangi & Lothar Gotz.
