Research plays an integral role in the School of Art and Design, generating new knowledge through a mixture of dialogue, practice and critique. The findings feed directly into the student learning experience, and applies knowledge through user-led research with academic, practitioner, institutional and industrial partners.

Jacqueline Butler is Head of the School of Art and Design and Associate Professor at University of the West of England(UWEBristol) in the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education (ACE).
She continues to practice as an artist and researcher, her specialism sits within fine art inter-technology creativity. She sits on the Executive Board at Open Eye Photography Gallery, Liverpool ( https://openeye.org.uk/), and on the Advisory Board of The Image International Research Network (https://ontheimage.com/). She is a founding member and joint coordinator of the Family Ties Network FTN (https://familytiesnetwork.wordpress.com/)
