I co-founded the Vancouver Women’s Library in 2017 and recently earned my Master in Publishing at Simon Fraser University. My current PhD research at the Glasgow School of Art focuses on what a systematic documentation and analysis of letters in secondwave feminist periodicals, 1970-1990, can reveal about the materiality of its strategies. This will take place through a comprehensive documentation of primary feminist periodicals that would have been widely known and circulated among feminist bookstores, publishers and their (counter-)publics, much of which is in danger of being lost and forgotten. My research will result in a publicly accessible digital database of feminist publishing with metadata information about the history of each text as it existed contextually and materially. Such a database might serve as an original model of how archives can engage with (feminist) theory as living, traceable ideas that are not static, but rather emerge out of a dynamic material substratum.
