Dr David Haley HonFCIWEM RSA
BRIEF STATEMENT: Ecological artist, David Haley, believes our ability to survive Climate Change is the enactment of a complex evolutionary narrative. As the dance of creation and destruction, also, demands new opportunities and meanings for the other side of collapse, his inquiries into the nature of water, whole systems ecology, complexity, and integral critical futures thinking inform his arts practice, academic research, education and community developments.
BRIEF BIOGRAPY: Haley was a Senior Research Fellow in MIRIAD and Director of the Ecology In Practice research group at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is also a Visiting Professor at Zhongyuan University of Technology; Research Advisor to Transart Institute; Vice Chair of the CIWEM Art & Environment Network, Trustee of Futures’ Venture Foundation, a member of UNESCO UK Man and the Biosphere Urban Forum, the Society for Ecological Restoration, and the Ramsar Culture Network Arts Steering Group. As well as publishing on questions of ‘capable futures’, climate change, ecological arts and transdisciplinarity, his ecological arts projects include poetic texts, gallery and sited installations, urban walks and opportunities for potential futures in the UK, China, Taiwan, the USA and Europe.
